Welcome
Uganda National Association of Community and Occupational Health (UNACOH) was formed in 1987. It brings together health professionals and any other individuals and organizations interested or active in the improvement of health in Uganda. It was registered as a Non-Governmental Organization in 1991. UNACOH enjoys a membership of about 1,000 persons from all over the country but by October 2005 had 21 established District Branches: Bugiri, Iganga, Jinja, Kabarole, Kampala, Bundibugyo, Kasese, Kayunga, Kyenjojo, Masaka, Masindi, Mayuge, Mbale, Mbarara, Mpigi, Mukono, Pallisa, Rakai, Rukungiri, Sembabule, Wakiso. UNACOH targets to establish branches in all the districts of Uganda.

Vision
A Healthy Productive Ugandan Population.
Mission
To promote a positive health culture and influence healthy public policies through the principles of Primary health Care, emphasising advocacy for health and community mobilisation, participation and empowerment for health action.
Goal
To promote health as a Human Right, and as a tool and measure of development through evidence based health communications and other interventions.
Objectives
- To advocate health concerns to decision makers.
- To exchange health information locally, nationally and internationally
- To carry out health research including operational research.
- To implement health projects
- Membership: Any individual or organisation interested or active in improvement of health in Uganda can become a member of UNACOH.
Key Activities Being Carried Out
- Building bridges (networking) with various actors in the health sector.
- Conducting health research (basic and operational) and training activities.
- Health Project/Programme Planning and Implementation.
- Media discussions (press/radio/TV/ video) on contemporary health issues.
- Organising Health consultative meetings.
- Organising Scientific Conferences.
- Producing Conference Proceedings.
- Producing UNACOH Position Papers on contemporary health issues.
- Publishing a quarterly Newsletter.
- Sale of WHO and other health Publications in Uganda.
