Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention

Under the Safety Promotion and Injury Project (1998/2000) funded by CPHA, UNACOH was able to stimulate the setting up of a multisectoral Safety Promotion Network (SPN) which is now effectively co-ordinated by the Ministry of Health, Disability and Rehabilitation Division.

Currently, there is also the off-shoot of SPN on Landmines, again co-ordinated by MoH/Disability and Rehabilitation Desk but with UNACOH and IPPNW – Uganda as the two main actors on the Landmine Awareness component.

A number of organizations have been mobilized and many other joint/collaborative activities and projects have been developed both in the area of SPN and other contemporary health issues.

UNACOH District Branches continually hold stakeholder meetings to explain the need for Safety Promotion and Injry Prevention (SPIP). In this effort, UNACOH has set up District SPN Task Forces.
